Hats are not just worn for bad hair days, wearing hats can add to a persons daily style. Even though it can be worn for practical reasons like blocking the sun, hats are now becoming even more popular and it can be the perfect accessory.  There are many different types of hats, so there are always options for any occasions such as funeral or weddings.  Today, wide brim hats are becoming more common for both women and men.  

This weekend, despite the rain women wore their hand-picked hats at the 141st Preakness Race. Hats ranged from simple to chic to avant-garde, which added that eye-catching emphasis to their outfits! Just like the Kentucky Derby women rocked their hats as an exuberant expression.  Besides the wide brim hat, that has lots of gorgeous flowers, feathers, and decor; Fascinators and Pillbox hats were worn by many.  Of course, everyone who attend these events to observe the horses race, but these events are more of social outings. Both men and women take time to select the right ensemble for the event and that includes picking the perfect hat!

When in doubt or if you need to spice it up a little, throw on a hat. I promise it will never let you down! Off to the races, do you have your perfect hat?!

Rainy Days

Rain, rain go away. Come again, another day! There has been so much rainfall in the DMV region, 15 days straight to be exact.  What's a stylish, sun loving lady to do?

Well for one, don't let it get you down. Use the grey skies as the backdrop to brighten your fantastic wardrobe.  Red, pink, lime and yellow galoshes brings bright, summery hues to any wet and cloudy scene.  Play up those punches of colors!

Rubber and plastic raincoats of the 21st century are hot! Last spring Dior turned heads, just as you would, with their whimsically printed and transparent raincoats.  Or you could sport a solid color.

So reach into that wardrobe for a chic dress, step into those rain boots, suit up in that coat and don't forget the umbrella.  It's about you turning gloom into BOOM!

One thing that majority of women have in common is that we love to shop.  The way we shop is changing on a daily basis; online shopping is taking the retail industry by storm.  It is creating an abundance of choices while saving time and not being inconvenienced long lines.  Shopping online brings the comfort of buying items from anywhere around the world by a click of a button. Whether you are on your computer, phone, at home or at work, basically anywhere where you can connect to Wi-Fi.

On the con side, online shopping eliminates human interaction. Retail stores are recognizing this and is making shopping more of an experience by hosting ladies night or pop up shops. Storeowners allow entrepreneurs to sell their product in their store for the day while catering to customers with drinks, appetizers and of course sale items.  Shopping is being transformed to a social outing where customers can interact and purchase items. It’s like a two for one deal and you know we all love deals.   

The truth of the matter is we crave both convenience and sometimes we just need instant gratification with a splash of social interactions. How you shop depends on your preference.

FashionEasta

“Keep Calm and Go Shopping”

This weekend, Harbor East in downtown Baltimore, MD bought fashion to the streets and had their 5th Annual fashion event called FashionEasta (which has a nice ring to it by the way).  This event did not only bring attention to fashion boutiques such as SouthMoon Under, Sassanova, and Handbags in the City, but also brought awareness to the different businesses in the area.  All stores including restaurants offered specials and bringing the community together to make the day enjoyable. People were dressed in the latest fashions, stores were packed beyond capacity, and the vibe was welcoming. This makes the shopping experience worthwhile!  Even though there were cloudy skies, the energetic atmosphere and the great turn out made up for it. 

 

An amazing fashion event like this one, creates revenue for the city and a social outing for the community.  Who doesn't love live entertainment, good fashion tips, and cocktails and not to mention the fashion event was absolutely free!
