Who will be chosen?

"Chase your dreams... in high heels of course."

The room is quiet and at a standstill as the door opens and in comes a lady with long legs wearing jeans, a t-shirt and heels.  The Posh Me’ke team and I are all sitting around the table and one person on the panel says, “She has great height.”  While another says, “She has great posture.” We all eye her up and down and take a look at her portfolio.  Pretty soon there will be a room full of women wanting to be chosen as a Posh Me’ke model.

The time is here, and the garments are ready.  Yes, a round of applause! Well if anyone knows me, I will have a glass of red wine giving a toast to the Posh Me’Ke team with a smirk on my face.  Now back to business, we are looking for women who will embody the Posh Me’Ke style and look to showcase our garments. We thought that this task would be easy, but the truth is, there is no easy task on this journey. The model search has been like choosing the fabric for our garments. It forces us to be selective and to explore all options.  Needless to say, the search is on.  As each model appears next Saturday, we will be thinking is she the one who will be featured in our look book and website?

Be my Valentino

“I don’t need a Valentine, I need Valentino.”
                                                                        --Unknown
Love is in the air because it’s Valentine’s Day weekend, but to all fashionistas this weekend is marked as New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Every Valentine's weekend I look forward to the energetic atmosphere from horns honking, to the congestion, and the fast pace of the city. Flagging down a cab in one of my fabulous ensembles, it’s nothing like New York Fashion Week.   Eagerly waiting to see what these amazing designers have in store. Collection after collection, the anticipation never dies.

Twice yearly NYFW, (the epicenter of the most creative forces in the Milky Way Galaxy), kicks off a worldwide celebration of what people can accomplish with fabric! From established iconic fashion houses like Chanel, Versace, Balmain, to the debut collections of designers who once interned for these extraordinary designers.  NYFW both dazzles and bewilders the audience. So, inspired I am when I'm left with the lasting impression of each designer.

Needless to say, you know where I’m at this and every Valentine’s Day NYFW it is!!!

Own Your Gift

“Don’t be scared of yourself. Be brave and own it.”

Dear Diary,

In life you have these pivotal moments when the world is moving so fast you feel like you are in a whirlwind. It makes one uncomfortable, but it is needed to get to the next level and to help us grow. A lot of times we don’t accept ourselves in a way of owning our gifts.  Yes, we all possess a gift. We conform to society’s thinking, in that only certain people possess gifts. The truth is that most people get sucked in the whirlwind, moving fast, and never slow down to tap into the gift that was given to them.  One day you will figure out what your gift is.  I encourage you to not ignore it, to focus, to work hard, and to flourish it. Just like growing a garden. A garden starts off with dirt and seeds. You must feed it with sunlight and water. As time goes on you will see your garden develop. It will come to a point where you will scare yourself, in that you will realize how powerful you actually are. I would say be brave and own it. We are all destined to be great so create your own garden, but you must first plant your seeds, then water it daily, and give it light.
