Everyday Inspiration

“Clothes aren’t going to change the world.  The women who wear them will.”
                                                                                                 --Anne Klein

It is important to be inspired. Being inspired helps your creativity to manifest. To take something whether it’s everyday life, an era in history, or just sitting in a beautiful garden can inspire you.  Once you become inspired, you will depict your perception through your creative talent.  I became inspired while attending Sew Fabulous sewing school, it was there where I found my niche and tapped in my passion for fashion.  Just being in that atmosphere pushed me to become a creator, it allowed me to view the world through my personal take on life.

My Inspiration:

·       Posh Me’ke Team:  They come up with the most profound editorials and pictures, in which they send to me to keep my creative juices flowing.
·       New York City: The individuality in the street wear, SoHo- Fashion District and last, but definitely not least Saks 5th on 5th Avenue. Last weekend, I submerged myself into the fashion atmosphere. It was so inspiring.
·       Movies/Magazines/Fashion shows:  Devils Wear Prada, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Mahogany. I watch the major designer’s shows during Fashion Week and I’m guilty of being a fashion magazine hoarder.  On any given day I may pick up a magazine and flip through the pages.

With all that being said, remember in life we must remain inspired, it pushes us to the next level.  My question to you this Sunday is: What inspires you?

Spring Fling!

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.”

                                                     --Anne Bradstreet

This past week we got a glimpse of what the upcoming season has to bring. Warm weather! Don't get too attached because the month of March is tricky. We can pack away our wool and cashmere coats but keep the leather around. This is the type of weather where layering is a must, so have fun with it.  Dress in lighter fabrics, pastel colors, sheer and lace; pairing them with a fur vest or stole, bomber jacket on those chilly nights are a great look!  Mixing prints and fabrics, wearing neutral tones with a pop of color, off the shoulder sweat shirts or blouses, midriffs, and high splits that will catch the eye of many. Don't be scared to wear it your way and implement your own personal style.  It’s still boot season, so wearing over the knee boots and open toe booties are appropriate.  Make sure you have an assortment of shades to go with your look for the day.  We are springing forward this weekend, so get your closet ready! Let's Talk About ....

“People will stare.  Make it worth their while.”

                               --Harry Winston

Sex sells….this is a fact! Being provocative and showing some skin has proven to grab the attention of many.  In the past, sex was a forbidden topic to discuss.  Now it’s a part of everyday conversation with adults. Sex used for advertisements is now becoming more prevalent and is no longer shameful.  Giving people free range to express themselves where no rules exist is duly noted to sell products, clothing and catch the attention of people.

At the most recent Met Gala, celebrities such as Beyoncé decided to sex things up a bit in a tasteful way and show some skin. Sister to the Kardashians, Kendall Jenner got “cheeky” and had some side-boob happening in the Calvin Klein ad.  It’s no longer unusual for celebrities to pose nude on a cover of a well-known magazine or show up to an event flaunting their amazing bodies. What I thought was interesting is that, more women are attractive to these ads then men are. One would think that it was the opposite way around.  However, all women at some point want to feel sexy and/or become their alter ego.
