“Ignore the old
rules. White after Labor Day is
glamorous.”
--Michael Kors
As Labor Day is approaching, so is the question of should I stop wearing white or continue to wear it? We all have heard the rule that you are only supposed to wear white from Memorial Day through Labor Day because it marks the summer season.
If you want to continue to wear white during the “off
season” it’s your choice, but choose wisely when it comes to fabrics. Summer white normally consist of light weight
fabrics such as linens, chiffons and cottons.
At first I was against wearing white after Labor Day, but now I see that
white is more versatile with the variety of winter white colors that include cream,
off white, eggshell, and bone. Those
shades of white look so rich during the fall/winter season with the heavier
textiles like wool, leather and knits.
Over the years fashion has changed and so have the
rules. With that in mind, will you
retire your white or continue to wear it?
