Are you the bomb?

“Every day is a fashion show and the world is the runway.”

                                                     --Coco Chanel

I remember my first flight jacket, it was all black and quilted and my sister had a multi-colored one made out the same material.  You couldn’t tell us anything, the jacket said it all!

Fun history fact:   Who would have ever guessed that the bomber jacket was developed for pilots during World War I?  In 1915, the Royal Flying Corps in Belgium and France issued their pilots long leather jackets that protected them from the cold weather.  The U.S. adopted the idea and eventually created a new design. The U.S. Army Air Corps decided to create a waist length jacket of their own and it was called the A-2 bomber jacket.  Not only did the military catch on to the jacket but the fashion industry noticed its popularity and made the jacket timeless.

Designers are taking the original silhouette of the bomber jacket and revamping it.  Using different fabrics and colors, adding embellishments, tailoring it or even creating an exaggeration through shapes. The jacket went from being a necessity during World War I to a symbol for strength, style, power, and leadership.  This jacket is worn by all ages from kids to their grandparents.  I love that the bomber jacket can be paired with something glamorous creating the perfect street style. Depending on your fashion style there is a bomber jacket for you.

Excuse me, can you pass my jacket please?
